Why we built DealerStack

DealerStack was created to make running a dealership simpler, clearer, and more connected. It brings together deep motor trade experience and modern digital thinking to build software around the way dealers actually work.

Built from experience in the motor trade

After more than 20 years in the motor trade, our founder moved into e-commerce and spent the next 15 years working in fast-moving digital businesses across fashion, footwear, and clothing.

But the motor trade never really leaves you.

When the idea of returning to the industry first came up, initially through buying and selling cars again, it quickly became clear that many of the systems available to dealers had not moved on in the way they should have. They felt dated, overcomplicated, clunky, and disconnected from the real process of running a dealership.

That gap became the starting point for DealerStack.

Dealer software had fallen behind

At its heart, selling cars is not overly complicated. You speak to a customer, understand what they need, show them the vehicle, discuss a part exchange if they have one, work through the numbers, and they either buy or they do not.

The process itself is straightforward.

The problem is that the software supporting that process often is not.

Too many dealer systems feel like they were built around software requirements rather than real dealership workflow. They ask users to work around the platform instead of letting the platform support the way dealers already work. The result is unnecessary complexity, duplicated admin, disconnected tools, and systems that feel harder than the job itself.

DealerStack was shaped by experience across both the automotive world and modern e-commerce. That combination matters.

Giving dealers more control over their own business

A big part of the philosophy behind DealerStack is that dealers should not have to rely on expensive third parties for things they should be able to manage themselves.

That is especially true of websites.

DealerStack includes a simple block-based website builder that gives dealers direct control over their own content, pages, and presentation. Add a block, update the text, upload an image, make the change live. That is how straightforward it should be.

The same principle applies across the platform: put better tools directly into the hands of the dealer, reduce dependency, and make everyday changes easier to manage in-house.

DealerStack is designed to remove friction from the tasks that often slow dealerships down or get pushed aside.

Admin

Uploading and interpreting invoices is one example. Rather than retyping supplier details, pricing, VAT, and related information manually, DealerStack helps turn that into a faster, more reliable workflow while keeping the record attached to the right vehicle or cost.

Compliance

Licence checks and test-drive compliance are another. When tasks are time-consuming, people cut corners. We believe good software should make the right thing easier to do, not harder.
